CELEBRATING SUPER MUMS

CELEBRATING SUPER MUMS

Real life inspiration from real life superheroes

Sunday, 12th May

For all things inspiring, mum’s the word!  Queens of multitasking, masters of  time management and holders of all knowledge, there’s no doubt that mums are their own kind of superhero. We chatted with a few Supermums and we found their messages so inspiring that we had to share them with you!

MAGGIE - @thepeninsulamumma

Hellooooo! My name is Maggie & I am The Peninsula Mumma. I am 29, I live an hour outside of Melbourne, my Dad is French & my Mum is an Aussie. I have a 12 month old son named Jagger who makes me smile on the daily, a 7yr old German Shepherd who truly is my fur baby and a husband who I love doing life with.

Nice to meet you Maggie! What is fitness to you and why has it become such a big aspect of your life?

Training is my “me” time - it helped me find my centre after my son was born. Although I sometimes had to wake at 4:30am to breastfeed and then pump before my 6am gym class, it set me up for the rest of the day. Fitness also has such a positive impact on my mental health. When I feel strong and when I move my body, it nourishes my mind.

Tell us one thing that you love about yourself.

I love my sense of humour. I love my body and what it has given me. I love that my body was the first home that my son ever knew. I also love my ability to learn song lyrics really quickly which is obviously an incredible life skill.

“I love my body and what it has given me.”

Haha, that’s an awesome skill to have! Lastly, how do you want people to know you by, and how would you like to “Leave Your Mark”?

I want to leave my mark by speaking my truth. I want to leave my mark by inspiring more people to love themselves, to truly be able to look in the mirror and see a friend. To see someone they are proud of and see someone who loves them staring back. I want to leave my mark by telling my story and hopefully, by doing that, I can help someone feel like they are not alone and somehow I can make them smile.

KIMBERLEY - @staystrongmummy

I’m Kimberley Welman - a proud mama to three children within 19 months, including twins. I'm married to my high school sweet heart, whom I met 32 years ago. I love to embrace healthy habits in our home and share that love and passion with other mamas around the world. I'm an introvert at times, yet love standing my ground. I'm humble but also hungry in business. I meditate a mission statement each morning, but love to dance and enjoy a glass of bubbles on the weekend. I'm a Gemini, can you tell?! lol!

We want to hear what your kids have to say! How would they describe you?

Ok, so as I have three children, I just asked each of them what they think of me (gosh, this was deep conversation - ha ha!) Eve says - You're funny. I like laughing with you. Indiana says - You're fast at running. George says - You cook me yummy food.

What does fitness and training mean to you?

Keeping active means nourishing my physical and emotional health. It's a core foundation to living a healthy, happy, confident and energetic lifestyle! I truly believe that nourishing yourself as a mother, is part of nourishing your family. Our energy flows throughout the entire family. When I allocate time to myself through workouts, wholefoods and self-care - I'm a more patient, vibrant, energetic and calm mama and wife.

“Keeping active means nourishing my physical and emotional health.”

And tell us, how do you want to “Leave Your Mark”?

I'm on a mission to make a healthy and positive impact on my children's lives and to other families around the world. We are living in one of the busiest, stress-driven world's we've ever witnessed - and we're also one of the sickest cohort's the world has ever seen. I'm no expert - but as a passionate mum who knows first-hand the benefits of real foods, nourishing rather than punishing fitness, self care and just coming back to basics in life - I know they're a game-changer in how we live life. I want to ensure my family enjoys the benefits of health, freedom, empowerment, purpose, love, the great outdoors and flexibility. And, I'm on a mission to help other families do the same.

ALICE - @aliceinhealthyland

I am a wife, I am a mum and a role model to three children – one boy 3years, two girls 22 months and 3 months, I am a Registered Nurse and I run a health and wellbeing blog/Instagram account called Alice In Healthyland. I am passionate about keeping myself healthy, mind, body and spirit. I love spreading the message of self love with my tribe and connecting with like minded people.

What does fitness and training mean to you?

It is a huge priority in my life, it’s my therapy haha. I love finding new ways to challenge myself and I am currently training for a half marathon. My children are also a part of my why. They inspire me to be the best version of myself for them.

Wow, a half marathon must require a lot of persistant training- how do you balance being a mum and finding time to stay fit and healthy?

Hmmm balance is that such a thing? I make sure I schedule in my training sessions and put it on the calendar. Some days my workout is a walk to our local coffee shop with the double pram, baby carrier and the dog. Other days, it’s a home workout on a play mat with the children at my feet or a weights class at the gym if the hubby is home. I just try move my body at least 15 minutes a day and I feel great for it.

“I hope to inspire other women to love and accept themselves for who they are and help them to realise that they are not alone.”

Tell us one thing that you love about yourself.

For me, my “self love” journey started when I got pregnant with my first. I used to think that to love myself I had to be a number on the scales or a certain size. I call BS on that. Getting pregnant, watching my body change, giving birth and becoming a mumma, all these stages in my life have helped me to realise how amazing my body is and I have so much respect for it. I want my children to grow up seeing me preach a healthy life style and respecting myself for who I am.

How do you try to “Leave Your Mark”?

I want to make my contribution greater than my reward (I love that quote), I hope that by sharing my journey (the good and the bad) on my blog/instagram, I hope to inspire other women to love and accept themselves for who they are and help them to realise that they are not alone.
