Meet DYE Athlete Jay Darko!

Jay is that guy that get’s you fired up before your next heavy set, that type that pushes you to be the best version of yourself. Team Doyoueven is a combination of strength, positivity, empowerment and more - that is why we are over the moon to announce that Jay will be hanging out with us at the Arnies booth!

Read our Q&A on Jay to get to know him a bit more.

What mantra do you live by? “The only thing that’s keeping you from getting what you want is the story you keep telling yourself.”

Your go-to workout is... Nothing beats back and biceps

What do you never leave the house without? My water bottle lol

What is your guilty pleasure? I have a sweet tooth, so usually anything like waffles, vanilla bean ice cream and Nutella drizzled on top works for me :)

Why did you choose to begin a fitness journey? Initially it all started with wanting to build self confidence and becoming more competitive in high contact sports as a teenager.

What are your out of gym hobbies? Photography/videography, cooking, exotic cars, property, personal branding

Do you have a favourite DYE piece? Grey Phantom Athletic Tee

Where do you hope to be in the next 3 years? I'd love to get into public speaking! Running seminars or events that bring influencers together to allow them to share their journey. That would be amazing! Creating a bigger impact through my social channels. Owing my own training facility and building upon the list of companies I currently own. To be honest, I haven't thought that far ahead yet, but I know with each year that goes by, I continue to learn and explore new opportunities. As they say "success is all about solving the toughest problems" and that's what I intend to do.

What’s some advice you want to pass on?

1. Set realistic expectations and be objective with your progress.

2. Stop being so damn hard on yourself.

The biggest reason people fail along their fitness journey is because they think they aren't making enough progress. Sometimes you need to pull yourself out of the current situation and look at things from above and say "wow I've lost 3kg in 8 weeks that's phenomenal progress".

Remind yourself that you have been making a conscious effort to eat healthier, to change your lifestyle. It's so easy to be your own worst critic. You have to treat yourself like you're worthy and never quit to give yourself the best chance of success.
